‘Stay in Needles for the summer’
Satan couldn’t stand the heat in Needles in the summertime. The temperature gets to nearly 150 degrees!!
But it’s a dry heat......
I grew up in Illinois but we had relatives that moved to California in the ‘50s. On our first trip to visit them we had to stop at an inspection station in Needles. Traffic was backed up for miles. Dad decided to get out and walk around for a bit. We all nearly passed out when the heat hit us. The officer standing near our car must have noticed a shocked look on Dad’s face because he said “hey, it’s not bad today. Only 115.”
