Live thread: Wisconsin Supreme Court election - Prosser vs Kloppenburg

This election is important nationally too. If Kloppenburg is elected the Wisconsin mandate by the electorate in 2010 in this state will be negated by the WI Supreme Court and the unions will have won.

I live in a hardcore conservative area and discovered today that my Prosser yardsign was mutilated and thrown into one of my plantings.

Pray for Wisconsin and for Prosser's election!

I posted here 2 days ago that is Wisconsin’s and maybe our “Bob Dole” moment, i.e. his failure to get 67 votes in the Senate for a Balanced Budget Admendment. It was all down hill from their, I fear that is the case again with this one little judge-ship.....

You're not getting it.

They won't be able to pass anything if Prosser loses.

In fact, they will have some of the bills they passes overturned.

Americans are pretty sanguine about big government

Wasn't always that way, but far too many now feel a sense of comfort and security with nanny-state government directing their every move.

Turnout in Waukesha was 42% which ain’t bad for an off year but not nearly as good as the turnout in Dane.

Prosser holds the seat until July even if he losses, Walker might be able to get a few things through

I was speaking nationally. But thanks for clarifying the WI issue more.

The Republicans had their chance when the Dems were AWOL, but they didn't take advantage of it.

Very true. I am still scratching my head as to why the GOPers didn't go after non-budget legislation with a vengeance. They let a golden, once-in-a-generation opportunity to make real change slip by. I have no clue as to why.

To be fair, the Republicans were very limited in what they could pass without a quorum, to my understanding. Nothing could be passed that had a fiscal effect without a quorum. Voter I.D. requires a lot of “education,” “notification,” and free I.D. giveaway (to get past the inane ‘poll tax’ accusation) expenses. Here in Texas, which is about to pass our own version, the expense is in the several millions.

Read that the reason for the holdup is a place called Lake Mills. They didn’t have a quorum to proceed to count votes; so they are supposedly meeting at 11:45 today to do so. There are 700-800 votes there and they went for Walker in the election for Gov.

Why do I have a feeling they will sit like this

http://elections.620wtmj.com/G8801.htm

until the dems find votes?

Are they counting with a hamster wheel?

The interesting thing, though, is that this was an election where everything lined up for the left. They had more anger and intensity (as was evidenced by the Dane turnout). They had more money. They were able to create some vicious phony issues. Yet this thing is pretty much a dead heat.

The good thing is that I think the GOP legislators will realize that it’s not suicidal to continue to push this agenda. And if the recall can be dragged out, even if Prosser loses, then the court rulings will be made by the current court.

One pleasant surprise: The last precinct in Juneau County, which was slightly tilted Democratic, gave Prosser a 46 vote gain. As discussed above, the last precinct in Taylor County was small, turns out Prosser gained 23 votes there. He also gained 16 votes in the most recent tally in Ozaukee County.

Barring some GOP lean in the missing Milwaukee County precincts, it will be a narrow deficit for Prosser going into the recount. As noted above, he should gain 70-90 votes in Jefferson County but trails by 224 before those votes are taken into account.

The winner doesn’t take the bench on the court until August. I know the Dems are expert at obfuscation, but with a some determination and b@lls like they’ve shown, Walker and Congress can get it done before then.

So if this fraudulent election for supreme court justice, ends up in the Wisconsin Supreme Court (which I am sure is where it is headed), what about David Prosser? I know the dimturds will be hollering & screaming that Prosser will need to recuse himself, but that didn't stop Dane County dimturd Judge Sumi from recusing herself from the union collective bargaining vote, even with her son being a union official? I hope Prosser would continue to rule on his own contested election, especially with contested ballot issues.

"Coleman ran a piss-poor campaign and had an incompentent legal team that allowed Franken to win.

When the results at the ballot box are reversed through superior lawyering, I consider it a "stolen" election. The criteria for winning an election should be garnering the most votes, not having the best lawyers.

Just my opinion ...

That may well happen, but just as Wisconsin got the entire nation to focus on the issue of the problems with public employee unions, this could also really raise awareness of unconstitutional judicial activism.

You've done yeoman's work on the ward by ward counts. Tip of the hat.

I agree with your take BTW, this should stiffen the spine of the republicans in Wisconsin to continue legislating against union theft.

It also totally wipes out the notion that courts are apolitical. But we knew that. :-}
