The president handed over the cheque after signing the condolence book at the Japanese Embassy in Mali.
He declared that the cheque was a "message of solidarity from the Malian people."
"It is of course a drop of water in the ocean if we compare with what Japan has given Mali in many sectors. But this is our modest contribution. It is a modest gesture that symbolizes the deep friendship between our two countries," the president told the Japanese envoy.
