One reason to hope that Hillary hasn't really given up on running for President again is that it would mean a core of Democrats against removing the constitutional ban on a third term.

Not that Obama cares about the Constitution, but trying to ignore the clear language of the amendment may be too much even for a lot of Democrats. It isn't likely that the Democrats after 2012 would have the votes in Congress and in the state legislatures to ram through a repeal of the 22nd amendment.
