Flamboyant billionaire Donald Trump was today forced to launch a frantic damage limitation campaign after a ploy to question President Barack Obama's place of birth backfired.
He joined the legion of Americans demanding Mr Obama prove he was born on U.S. soil by issuing his own birth certificate, only to have its authenticity questioned because it lacks an official seal.
Now Mr Trump's lawyer has defended the tycoon's New York origins - by pointing out there are hospitals named after his family in the city, but the only ones named after Mr Obama are in Africa.
Michael Cohen said: 'I don't think anyone's going to question whether Donald Trump is or was not born in New York.'
And he said it was a 'little bit odd' there were hospitals named after Mr Obama in 'Ghana', but none in New York. The president's family is in fact from Kenya.
Mr Trump proudly issued his birth certificate yesterday, which states he was born at New York’s Jamaica Hospital on June 14, 1946 to parents Mr and Mrs Fred C. Trump.
The move came after he joined 'birthers' - the legion of Americans who say Mr Obama is not a U.S. citizen - in demanding the president produce his birth certificate.
The 65-year-old property tycoon and Apprentice host said: 'It took me one hour to get my birth certificate.It’s inconceivable that, after four years of questioning, the president still hasn’t produced his birth certificate.
‘I’m just asking President Obama to show the public his birth certificate. Why’s he making an issue out of this?

Obama and his cronies in Il made money shaking down hospitals..Trump helped to fund them. Mybell Obama made big bucks in an no show job at UofC hospital.
This hardly backfired. Rather, it was a beautiful thing. The LSM immediately started jumping on the BC Trump produced -— LOL, for the same reasons birthers reject the BC Obama has produced.
But, unlike Obama, Trump said okey-dokey, and immediately went and got the BC the media/birthers said is the official document.
This was no backfire.
BTW, I went to get a passport today and was informed that the rules on BC have been changed. My little card was no longer accepted because -— wait for it -— I now could use ONLY copies of my BC that had both parent’s names on it.
Like Trump, I can get that.
Also not everyone this author calls a “birther” believes or concludes that Obama is not a U.S. citizen. Some birthers simply want him to show his official birth certificate. That is all.

Trump is definitely more in tune with mainstream America, and has had much more involvement with it from his birth forward, than the Bummer. At the same time, it seems to lack a bit of class in so called melting pot America to harp on Obama’s African ancestry. If Trump is going to go birther on Obama, it should be in the vein of “he is constitutionally unfit” rather than “oh look, we go back to the Mayflower.”
Obama’s family could have obtained a “Certificate of Live Birth” without him being born in Hawaii.

(a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.
(b) Proof of legal residency shall be submitted to the director of health in any manner that the director shall deem appropriate. The director of health may also adopt any rules pursuant to chapter 91 that he or she may deem necessary or proper to prevent fraudulent applications for birth certificates and to require any further information or proof of events necessary for completion of a birth certificate.
(c) The fee for each application for registration shall be established by rule adopted pursuant to chapter 91. [L 1982, c 182, §1]
In other words, Barack’s mother could have obtained the above “Certificate of Life Birth” even if Barack was born outside of the United States (e.g., in Kenya). Via PowerLine News Forum.

At this point, I almost don’t care where this ‘man-causing disaster’ was born - I just want him out of the WH. If the long form certificate helps facilitate that, bring it on. There’s something in it Mr. Transparency doesn’t want people to know.
If I were to bet on it I would still say 0 was born in HI. However I wouldn’t bet the ranch, if fact I’d be hedging. One thing I find disturbing is the LACK of pomp and ceremony at the birth hospital in Honolulu. One would think that the moment 0 was declared pres-elect, the hosp administrators would commission someone to erect a monument at the main entrance to commemorate such an event. Here in my neck of the woods in the Hudson Vly NY there’s historic markers all over the place commemorating people and events going back to the 1600’s when the Dutch controlled the region. Hell even near my old neighborhood in the Pelham Parkway section of da Bronx, the block that Regis Philbin grew up on was named in his honor.

There was a letter that claimed he was born in a HI hospital. They used it to fund-raise until they were challenged on its authenticity. Whereupon they immediately removed it from public view [they had never displayed the original anyway] and hid it in an undisclosed location. I’m not making that up.
