Sun n' Fun has been hit by strong storms and probable tornado damaging or destroying many aircraft. Several injuries and some structural damage to buildings. The Zenith line took a direct hit. This is on the news and several websites.
Well said, this is far from a disaster.
Broken hip and some other minor injuries, a few million $ in property damage?
Every Saturday night in every one of the 200 most populated American towns and cities.
Apparently they were torn off, some of the planes were actually torn into. I’ve had one flipped over in the wind and it didn’t look like some of those that I have seen on the aviation web sites. They are a mess.
Grasping at straws, huh?
The fact of the matter is that this is not breaking news. And it is not a MAJOR AIRSHOW DISASTER.
It is a sad day for some aviation enthusiasts. But hardly a MAJOR DISASTER.
More than $1,000,000 worth of windows were broken on our university campus alone.
The total damages quickly soared to well over $100,000,000.
I'm sure many here would not consider it a ‘disaster’ but it sure felt like one from my desk.
This is a tragedy for the loss of the aircraft.
If the story was about ‘Six Whales Beached’ well, all too many would consider THAT a disaster.
The moral to this story: Save the planes, eat the whales!
If you aren’t interested or don’t understand the situation, don’t reply.
And your flying experience is?
>> Sorry to disturb you - we’ll only wake you for bigger injuries in the future.
I don’t know, the sarcasm isn’t on balance with the concern some of might have upon reading the headline — not to minimize the welfare of those thought to have been trapped in the tent structure.
>>>It is a sad day for some aviation enthusiasts. But hardly a MAJOR DISASTER.
That’s your opinion, and It does not give you license to be a major wazoo aperture.
You are an idiot pal.
Probably 30,000 folks there to look at all kinds on neat airplane stuff and a very stiff storm hits.
Misleading?
Get real moron.
My Father was a Marine Leatherneck flying over 2000 hours in a Corsair F4U in Korea and was shot down twice and earned a purple heart.
My son is a licensed pilot who got his pilot's license on his 17th birthday, but now that he no longer works at the airport as a flight school dispatcher, he can't afford to fly. I am lifelong aviation fan, but this is NOT A MAJOR AIRSHOW DISASTER. This is a sad day for some aircraft owners. They'll get over it. They are a tough bunch.
I guess it's how I was raised. Disaster is loss of life, loss of function within your person because of an accident. I was told that if you walked away alive, everything else, eventually could be fixed.
We'll agree to disagree and leave it on a polite note.
I wish everyone well who was there and that had property damage. I'm glad that in the winds and turmoil, there was no loss of life.
I agree. Now THIS is an airshow disaster:
Your title suggests a plane went down into the crowd ala Ramstein.
Glad to hear it was the weather.

AVWeb report. No serious injuries, minor injuries treated on-site. 40 Damaged or destroyed aircraft, exhibit damage.
Still, if that was my Husky laying in a crumpled ball I might consider this a major disaster.
It does if it's your hip or your plane.
>>>My Father was a Marine Leatherneck flying ... My son is a licensed pilot..
Neither gives you license to be a wazoo aperture.
“Apparently they were torn off, some of the planes were actually torn into. Ive had one flipped over in the wind and it didnt look like some of those that I have seen on the aviation web sites. They are a mess.”
What a disaster,I wish everyone the best.
Now here is an around seven injury disaster in the making!
I am simply pointing out the misuse of the Breaking News sidebar and the misleading headline.
I can add to my "resume" that my cousin was killed in a Cessna 172 light plane crash. And when it happened it was front page news all over the country.
The news had just broken.
