Hennepin County (Minneapolis, MN) raised property taxes 17.5% for this year.

We sold our home in Mpls last Sept. and only got this notice because the deed had not transferred as of the date of mailing. It would have added over $50 to our monthly payment.

What planet are these uber-libs living on? There is probably only one way left to stop this nonsense.

And, it ain't gonna be pretty.

I'll tell you - here in New Jersey, they are beginning to get very nervous.

In the "old days" of just a few years ago, the mantra was just keep raising property taxes every year to whatever they damn felt like. Now homeowners are always pushing back. Gov Christie gets a lot of great Conservative press and YouTube hits for standing up to the teachers union, but he caved big time on his "2% cap deal" for property taxes with the democrats. Townships can exceed the 2% cap just by saying they need to in order to pay for pensions and health benefits! So, towns are getting greedy again and people are getting screwed. My taxes went up a huge amount, and are going up even more. The protests and appeals don't work. Period. The reason: they need the money too badly.

Every teacher and administrator in NJ that can retire is racing for the exits, trying to "grandfather" in their pensions while they still can. A large percentage of them (not sure of the actual amount) are then fleeing the state of NJ and moving to North Carolina or Florida in order to...........................wait for it.................................................................................................................AVOID PAYING NJ TAXES!

There is talk about making retirees stay in the state in order to collect their generous checks, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Here is what scares me: all we need is a little shove, and the whole country will find itself in a deep Depression (and we are in one now, despite what the MSM tells us), along with hyperinflation.

Is there a tax revolt coming? Hard to say. That would actually be akin to a revolution, and the thing about revolutions is they usually only break the damn after swelling to the point of no return. Who knows when that is reached.
