Bashar was a wee bit slow and considered a “sissy.” The cia and MI5 took him under their wing and groomed him for succession, expecting him to be pro-western.
They convinced Israel that assad would be the opposite of his father and sign a peace agreement with them, so Israel backed the deal.
Once he got into power, his REAL handler, an iraqi general loyal to saddam hussein and the baath party, became his closest advisor. He cut off all communications with the West and assad spoke to no one for a long time. His advisor did the talking.
The west spent millions creating a phoney resume for assad, and they were just shut out as if they never existed.

Listen, Just Piper wasn’t chased, she left all by herself. She opened her own website for her own personal reasons and we wish her well, but it left a huge void here. No one knew she was leaving and it caught us all flatfooted.

Yes it is....hand my hands plenty full keeping up with it as it moved. But these dections have been underway for a couple weeks as they had finally direct contact with Gaddafi’s circle...basically told them they had them in their line of fire and what did they want to do...and they did too! Just a matter of the decision they would make and how to get them out.
I linked to a post up the thread a ways, the last Video Musa gave as it seems revealing...no longer bold and could hardly hold his head up...I still wonder why that is for certain....not so sure this whole defection thing isn’t just getting Gaddafi’s people out before Gaddafi leaves and part of the bargan Gaddafi has struck. Many questions.
