I assume you meant to say dumb idea. However remember that 25 foot of water in the holding tanks was sufficient to block all of the radiation released by the core. Water is an excellent material to block radiation, and unlike metals doesn't it doesn't become radioactive itself. The radiation in the waste water is actually caused by particulate being carried along by the water. So you take all the particulate contaminated water. Fill the tanks of a tanker. Then tow it to the Marianas trench and open the sea cocks. The tanks are already full of water so they won't implode from the pressure. Now they are safely under miles of water. And by the time the tanks rust open much of the radiation will have decayed away.
Not as good as burying it, since there is some risk of the tanks rupturing when they hit the bottom of the ocean, but not entirely insane either.
