Obama avoiding major Libya address By: Glenn Thrush and Carrie Budoff Brown March 24, 2011 07:59 PM EDT
President Barack Obama is resisting pressure to deliver an Oval Office speech explaining his policy on Libya in part, because he doesnt want to equate what he regards as a smaller, time-limited mission with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Administration officials havent ruled out a big speech, but Obama is reluctant to make a major address on Libya until the United States hands over most command and combat duties to its allies.
Thats not to say the president wont talk about Libya over the next few days, aides say, but hes not likely to succumb to pressure to deliver a long, explanatory address to outline his elusive endgame to the nation until the path ahead becomes clearer.

Perhaps he thinks he can still vote “present” on matters he ‘disagrees’ with...as when he represented Illionis in the Senate...lest we forget, this from 2007: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/20/us/politics/20obama.html
That's nice of him.
You’re right on the fail part but most Americans are ok with a failure in the oval office. The MSM sells it very well.
He can’t address the issue because there is no long term plan. Hussein pulled this whole thing out of his ass at the last minute, and he has no clue how to proceed. The Hildebeest is in the driver’s seat on this, not Hussein; and the joke of a press briefing she gave last night is proof that there is no plan for handing this off to NATO, any more than there was a plan for intervening in Libya.
The complete lack of American Leadership on this is exactly why the entire Middle East is on fire. We have an amateur and a poser in the Oval Office and there are longterm consequences for that.
Libya? ...... screw that it has nothing to do with reparations and revenge
Nothing ceases to amaze me anymore.
This is what happens when an immature sociopath is allowed to play Commander-In-Chief with the most powerful armed forces in the world!
The only address I want to watch is from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs reporting to the Congress that the Un-Prezident has been removed and taken to Gitmo.
Chickenshizzle!
"Michelle, maybe. But that's it."
ditto
“President Barack Obama is resisting pressure to deliver an Oval Office speech explaining his policy on Libya in part, because he doesnt want to equate what he regards as a smaller, time-limited mission with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
A) The bombs themselves are handling the equation.
B) He obviously has no policy, and you cannot explain what does not exist.
“Libya? ...... screw that it has nothing to do with reparations and revenge “
I would contend that it has *everything* to do with reparations and revenge. Obama is giving reparations to Islamists for the years of colonial meddling. I believe he is trying to unify the Arab world under islamism.
In the deal he gets a legacy for “responsibility to protect,” or whatever Stephanie Power’s UN dreck is called.
“his elusive endgame”
Endgame? I’m kinda more interested in the opening game, at this point. Then we can get on with the middle and end.
“”but hes not likely to succumb to pressure to deliver a long, explanatory address””
Thank Heaven for that..We don’t even need a SHORT explanation!! We all know he’s making sure someone else is covering his behind. Any speech would be nothing but lies anyway!
A normal person would know you can’t fake being qualified for a job you can’t handle..doesn’t work that way.
For now.
The Mission Creep is in full force. We have stories of the U.S. government considering the idea of arming the insurgents. So is training for the insurgents to follow?
The Marines sing about "the shores of Tripoli" for a reason. Does ANYONE in this White House know why that is?
“there is no plan for handing this off to NATO, any more than there was a plan for intervening in Libya”
What does handing it off to NATO even mean? We are NATO That’d be like John Elway handing the Superbowl off to the Broncos or Jimi Hendrix handing a concert off to the Experience. Huh?
