Archeologist says Mammoth Bones Discovered On Central Coast

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. - The chances of finding mammoth fossils on the Central Coast are very likely. Experts say mammoth skeletons have been found throughout the state, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, the Channel Islands, and the Central Valley. "There have been small finds of teeth and tusks. We do have a tusk at the museum," said Annie Holdren, Pacific Grove Museum Curator.

But no "find" like the mammoth bones that were found somewhere in Monterey County three weeks ago. Mark Hylkema, Archaeologist with California State Parks, told Central Coast News his team found the remains of a juvenile Columbian mammoth in Monterey County.

"We're hoping to find out more and to get a chance to view and learn more about what they do discover once they're done excavating," said Holdren.

However, it could be a while. Hylkema is being very secretive about what he found. On the phone, he told us agriculture workers found the fossils at a site in Monterey County three weeks ago, and they plan on being there for several more weeks.

I wonder if the environmental freaks in California will allow the bones to be dug up. Won’t this disturb some three legged red frog or something?

Seriously, isn’t this proof that that the rapid extinction of mammoths was due to the introduction of skilled hunters (as is the pattern with megafuana extinctions in Australia, New Zealand, Madagascar, etc) and not to “climate change”, ie, warming, as mammoths apparently lived quite comfortably in warm climates as well as cooler zones.

Global warming advocacy (e.g., see any National Geographic article) requires refusing to see this obvious fact.
