Six hero pilots return home safe and sound from a bombing mission to Libya which saw them in the cockpit for an incredible 25 hours.
Three B-2 Spirit bombers, piloted by two men each, made it back after the 11,418-mile round trip from the Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri - where they are kept in special hangars - to Libya, where they hit targets on forces loyal to Colonel Gaddafi and back again.
At $2.1bn, they are the most expensive warplanes in the world and rarely leave their climate-controlled hangars. But when it does, the B-2 bomber makes a spectacularly effective start to a war - including during this weekend's aerial attack on Libya's air defences.

Hero pilots?
please tell me we aren’t using the B-2 for something an F-15 or F-18 can do?
Obama lied. Africans died.
Tell me again why we’re bombing yet another country ?
Man, my bladder wouldn’t last that long!
WTF? I find myself saying that a lot lately.
Mo’s hideout looks like the bottom of a Shake’n Bake bag.
Waste more money. 3 wars = USA bankruptcy.
This is so much like how Rome failed. Let invaders (illegals) flood in, insane corruption, bancrupt the country, have the Roman Army off fighting useless wars.
The corrupt Roman leadership had bread and circuses to fool the population aka food stamps and TV. The idiots who watch TV enable hussein.
C’mon, these guys have been sitting and playing cards in the hangar for a long time. They need to blow the dust off those wings once and a while.
They would be heroes if they had refused the mission.
Oh for crying out loud! What a monumental waste of money!
The B-2 is going in when the SAM sites are still active to get rid of same. An F15 or F18 can’t do that with impunity. A stealth aircraft can. F117’s could have been used if we still had them in the inventory AND they had a base to fly from. But - we retired them so the only stealth bomber we have is the B2.
Very impressive. In P-3s, a twelve hour mission is outside the norm, and that’s with three pilots, two flight engineers, and two navigators. Did a 13.2 once because the PPC wanted to set a record. He got an ass-chewing instead. Of course, the B-2 is completely pre- and post-flighted by another crew. In P-3s you do your own 4 hour preflight and 2 hour postflight.
Skilled pilots, brave pilots, yes. Hero Pilots? Seems to diminish the heroic efforts of pilots past.
Muslims were being killed by other muslims and apparantly that is a bad thing.
