What bothered me was the way he rolled over for Obama in the debates.
What? If you read FR after the debates it clearly states that McCain won every debate. FREEPERS thought that McCain was wonderful during the debates. It was not until after he lost that revisionist history started.

No, I watched the debates. McCain was so determined NOT to confront Obama, not to seem to be this crazy old "jack Ripper"type that he toned it way down. I wanted him to treat Obama pretty much the way he did Romney when they were on stage together. There he was the old Fighter jock," loose and flip, not afraid of offending. He let himself be put in the same box as Bob Dole. As for winning debates. Well, Nixon, on points, defeated Kennedy in the first debate. But he looks awful. In short, Kennedy won on appearance. Never mind that on foreign policy Obama sounded like what he was, a man totally out of his depth. But on TV he, like Kennedy, looked good. Palin, in her debate with Biden, was able to recover her standing by looking good. But McCain just looked "old."
