Whatever the arguments for or against intervention,it is clear that Obama’s decision was based entirely on political considerations. He did not want to intervene, but his advisors were warning him of the optics of having the Libyan rebels and thousands of civilians killed by a madman, while the US sat back and watched the carnage.
"Defense Secretary Robert Gates warned Wednesday that a no-fly zone in Libya may not be the best solution."
And what will happen to those civilians after the government is gone? Another Somalia?
