I wonder about the wisdom of these types of EPA cleanups. Does it really present a hazard to anyone living there. OK, it is fetid water, but it's in the middle of Brooklyn, no one is going to try to bath of fish in it. The toxins are slowly being compacted into clay at the bottom, or filtering out through the soil. Everything around it is paved for miles. What's the harm in leaving it?

What's the harm in pulling it all up, exposing it to the air, having workers interact with it, moving it all somewhere else and burying it. Seems like a lot of rigamaroll just to end up where you started.
