So firebombing their cities to ash, nuking two of them, remaking their society into a democracy and 60 years of them being one of our most steadfast allies isn't enough? Did you know, for instance, that our B-29 raids on Tokyo killed 30 times as many people in one night as died at Pearl?
Gimme a break.
I have written of this more than once on FR: Japan’s troubles began some twenty years ago when their real estate bubble crashed, putting their economy into a holding pattern with no growth.
That coincided with the last efforts of WWII Korean “comfort women” to obtain an acknowledgement and apology, and reparations for the rapes and atrocities commited against them in Korea.
Also at that time, the Chinese sought the same for the Rape of Nanking.
I have felt since then that that was a pivot time for the Japanese to repent and take responsibility for what they had done, like the Germans have done with regard to Jews and the State of Israel.
I do believe that God judges nations.
Japan is not the only one under judgement....I pray we are not among the “goat” nations, that there are enough righteous here for God to restrain what we are deserving of in many ways.
