The left must be so happy knowing a stake will be driven through the Nuclear Power industry.

I'm not sure why we should ditch nuclear power over the failure of a 40-year-old, obsolete reactor, already at the end of its designed lifespan, which was unwisely situated on a coastline known for violent tsunamis. We can build much safer ones now, and site them out of harm's way.

Most of the decisions are made based on politics.

There will not be a new nuclear reactor in the US in my lifetime.

In a rational world, where people use reason and science to make decisions, there would indeed be many new nuke plants constructed.

Unfortunately, the slimy, contemptible, immoral, power hungry corrupt political class dominates the major institutions that have sway over such decisions. So, no new nuke plants for the foreseeable future.
