Retired a few years now, but I used to work on 400hz 200v 3Φ AC generators for the computer systems I worked with. Smaller everything, especially the wires. In the 20+ years I worked on them, we never had one that failed in service. We did have a tech out west that replaced the bearings backwards - tore up the shaft as well as the bearings. Replaced them and had a full recovery. Good units and equipment all around.

I post at a forum about steam power, old gas and diesel engines and generators. One of the most common complaints and questions asked there is how a new poster and owner of a military 400hz generator can use it for a home generator.
