The Republican Establishment reminds me of a pack of Whole Life Insurance Salesmen.
Its a tough long slog but rinos and criminal types will ride the back of the bus and soon.
By not helping rebels in Libya he is helping Khadafi. Remember, there are some ties through Farahkhan and Khadafi and Dear Leader and Frakhans paths crossed many times back in the day
I think I’m as disillusioned with the GOP Establishment as I can be—and then each year I find there’s still a little more disillusionment to be had.
There's no guarantee that you will get your money back, sort of like that "PURSUIT of happiness" thing somebody wrote.
When enough people live long enough to collect too much, or even approach what they actually paid in, the system will go broke.
When the Social Security Fund is used to pay drug addicts for being drug addicts the system will go broke.
When small children with special needs are paid money from the Social Security Fund, the system will go broke.
And so on. Fix SS? raise the retirement age to 2 years more than the national average life span, force all government employees to live off social security, and stop whining. Of course, it's more fun to make the other guy cut back.
Mark Warner appeared reasonable (for a democrat) on the same show; maybe it was the lighting.
Too many of the Republicans respond to the detailed question instead of something like: "Look, it's like this. every month the US Government takes in 200 BILLION dollars, and each month it spends 300 BILLION dollars it doesn't have. Reducing the spending by 61 BILLION dollars over one year means reducing spending from 300 BILLION to 295 BILLION. That's not going to balance the budget, or reduce the debt. Get it?"
“This aint workin.”
You are so right. We got a letter from new RNC chairman Reince Priebus last week asking for our usual donation. Our response to him was that we are very upset about leadership leaving the funding for ObamaCare intact and that since it was the Heritage Foundation who discovered this $105 billion in spending, we feel our dollars would be better spent in donations to the Heritage Foundation and other groups who recognize the gravity of the situation the country is in.
So many problems
so little logic
even less political will.
Yeah, Bray. You said it all, as usual. If only we could have a good Republican president for 8 years and control both houses of congress, we could do a lot to reverse the disaster that’s been inflicted on us.
Woo, hoo, csmusaret!
And to think I used to like that long drink of water.
What a jerk.
“there was never any intent to pay you back for every penny you paid into Social Security. It was intended to provide a retirement safety net for people who needed it, and who outlived the national average life span”
Exactly right. It was simply a money grab by the government making grandiose promises while betting that most people would not live long enough to collect. We never seem to learn to beware of governments bearing gifts.
I agree, kabar. Bush tried to do something but was scorned and decried.
The program the pubs are proposing has a reasonable cut off age of 55. Anyone younger is going to have to figure out another way to fund his/her retirement.
Hillary’s lock box has been open for a long time.
But don’t call senior citizens who were lead into this wilderness by democrats greedy.
I resent that personally.
hey!...leave the lizards (reptile :) alone .
and besides he's a weasel.scum.
The people in Galveston, Texas, who opted out of this system from the beginning are doing great.
That’s all Bush suggested.
And, even though it flies in the face of the founding rules of social security, I would accept a means test for receiving the benefits.
That may be a comforting thought to have and thats more or less so, on average, for SS. But for medicare it by far isnt the case: The average new retiree will get three times the benefit paid in, adjusted for inflation:

This isn’t about “comfort.”
It’s simple math. When I was 16 I started paying into the system. At that time, a gallon of gas was 30 cents. Now I’m 61. Soon I’ll want that money I paid in, in part to pay for gas. It’s my money. But the gas will be $4.00. Are they gonna pay me $4 for my 30 cents? No. While my money “sat there” for 50 years, Alan Simpson and his ilk inflated the currency in such way that what was originally confiscated from me was virtually destroyed. And now they have the f’n gall to call me greedy! And to want to take the rest of the money too!
This isn’t about “comfort.” What I want is payback. And millions of others do too.
Don't the teachers still have collective bargaining privileges in Indiana?
I agree and we are probably considerably more sophisticated about constructing nuclear plants than 40 years ago.
Obama doesn’t want any kind of energy. He worships doing without (except for him and Michelle) and buying from muzzies.
I prescribe a ten mg. valium. Sarah will run and she will run Republican and she will win.
i AGREE...Kennedy was the one that changed all that..TV Media presence soooooo impt now.
I so hope you’re right. ‘Cause without Sarah I don’t see how Mitt doesn’t have it wrapped up early.
