Am told one of Japans formost ideas is NOT to alarm the public..all must be calm in the face of danger. Likely they will not report the facts until after the fact...time will tell...as one Freeper said watch what they do not what they say...they distrrubted iodine pills which says allot.

Or, talk to an expert (or at least read about the subject) and you will find that the isotope the locals are most concerned about is iodine-131, which as anyone knows, has a half life of 8 days.

However, it is readily taken in by the body and specifically the thyroid gland. Hence, the therapy of sodium iodine tablets, which displace it from the gland.

In about 80 days, it will be gone as in undetectable.

For perspective, consider that all of the lead on earth was once uranium...
