Anybody else notice how these major quakes are making a circle around the Pacific?

That is why I like EARTHQUAKE 3D.

It shows me the whole planet at once, with all Earthquakes for the past 7 days, using a very small and FREE program.

It has tons of fun controls, zoom in/out, spin the planet around as quickly as you like, and more.

Download Earthquake 3D.

It fast, easy, and free.

Most important is the ability to see patterns on a global scale.

Things like this make me start planning to keep my ham radio gear fully ready for action (batteries charged, etc.).

but has there been any aftershocks from the 8.9 yet? Aftershocks for a quake that size could last days, and be also very strong.

THIS MORNING I heard the announcer in Japan say there had been over a 100 aftershocks, SO FAR, and 13 aftershocks in the 6.0+ range.

I hope you don’t mind Smogger, but I did find this google geo-map of active volcanos updated to today. Maybe someone more technically adept could post it.

Prayers for Japan.

I looked all over for you early this morning EST. Couldn’t find your post anywhere. Another said you had checked in. Glad you are okay.

It will be daylight soon there. I can only imagine what they are going to find. May G-d help the good people of Japan.

Please stay safe!

“Anybody else notice how these major quakes are making a circle around the Pacific?”

There is only one region on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” not to have had a major Earthquake 8 or greater in the last 50 years. Right here in the Pacific Northwest. Its only a matter of time till another one like the 1700 quake hits us. It was estimated that one was a 9.2.

Anybody else notice how these major quakes are making a circle around the Pacific? First Chile, then New Zealand, SE China last week, and today Japan. Is NW North America next, then California/Mexico to make a complete circle?

I am surprised that California hasn't had a really big one in a while. There was Northridge in 1994 and San Francisco in 1989. Northern California is due. Imagine the recent Japan earthquake in California. Yikes!

I wouldn’t be surprised if a volcano doesn’t light-off! That’s what the ring of fire is!

"When blam makes it back, I’m going to ask him what he thinks about Japan being pretty much on the opposite side of the globe from Yellowstone, and with the supermoon coming up, as sleep is overrated, anyway."

I don't know.

I'm a catastrophist and this Super Moon thing caught my attention only a couple days ago. It made me go Hmmmm when I read about it and this morning I said Holy Moly.

I live in hurricane alley and am pretty well 'stocked-up' on necessaties.

It's always a good idea to have a few 'extra' things on hand.
(Do you know what I mean)
