I have watching the local Hawaiian TV station streams. Local personnel are somewhat miffed that the national networks, FOX, CNN, etc. are using disastrous words regarding the tsunami: pounded, slapped, and so forth. So far, the waves are pretty mild and nothing like the networks--the same ones that gave us two weeks worth of panic and hysteria on the bird flu--are reporting.

Yea, as good as it is to have a FOX News, nobody can take a story and blow it waaaaaay out of proportion like they can. Or worse get hooked onto tabloid stories. How many FOX hours were devoted to OJ, Elizabeth Smart,Robert Blake, etc

Why are they mad at media? Government officials ordered an evacuation. Seems if anyone is miffed they should be miffed at the people who issued the warning.

The TV reporting has been pitiful; except for the horrific video of the Japanese tsunami chaos; FOX has ‘radio reporters’ calling in and they are unintelligble - just chit chatting with valley girl expressions - “like, you know, I mean” - no facts or figures - just guesswork.
