In 2008 when gas prices skyrocketed, I heard Austin lefties screaming about oil companies loyal to Bush making obscene profits.

Presently, as gas prices skyrocket again, I hear the SAME lefties claiming gas prices rising is good because the government needs more revenue for roads etc.

Trying to track the lefty thought process is like trying to track the flight plan of a mosquito.

Gasoline taxes are based on X cents per gallon, so if the prices go up significantly and in response consumers reduce the amount of gasoline they are purchasing, the amount of money going to the government will decrease, not increase.
