How does one suicide bomber pack enough explosives to kill 36 people and wound 100 more? Even packed with shrapnel, wouldn't those closest to him absorb most of the blast?

Several years go when Bush was president, there was seen from the air a large group of Taliban lined up in rows attending the funeral of one of their dead.
Easy targets! The US did not fire on them out of “respect” for the dead.
