Do you all realize how ridiculous your arguments are? I know medical people, and they agree with me on this case. Quite a few of posts on this subject here have been full of inaccuracies, that somehow a trach will make this baby better. ...However, when I see posts that are just out of whack, I tend to debate on them.

I don't make it a habit to revisit old worn out threads, but some things are just too damn important to leave uncorrected:

I don't believe this was my quote, however I will answer your ping. I assume you are correcting my understanding that baby Joseph would shortly die with or without a trache. Yes, the accepted medical conclusion (including by the parents, as they fought the removal of the ET tube on that basis) was that he would not breathe on his own. The conclusion was wrong, including my acceptance of it. I am happy for the family that I was wrong.

The discussion was on a few issues, and different posters had different takes:

• Whether the Canadian medical system (Canadian taxpayers) should pay for a procedure deemed futile (not my issue, but I understood it)
• Whether a procedure deemed futile should take place at all (and whether a surgeon should be forced to do a procedure he or she deems futile)

I am happy for the family and the baby that he gets to go home breathing on his own. However, this does not particularly strengthen the argument that a tracheostomy was necessary - if he could be weaned from a trache, could he have been weaned from an ET tube? (As I recall, I proposed he be sent home with the ET tube.)

Note that the thread title you linked implies that posters were criticizing baby Joseph - I recall no such criticism of the baby. Some of the parents demanding the procedure perhaps, and many questions, but none of the baby.
