BREAKING!! Capitol closed to the public (I think Walker called Police Chief)

The Capitol is shut down to visitors from the public Monday morning, with only staff and media being allowed inside.

The state Department of Administration tightened rules on access to the statehouse Monday morning after deciding the night before not to force out hundreds of demonstrators who were camped out in the rotunda.

"We are going to let people in in a measured way but we have to get this building cleaned up," Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch said.

On Tuesday, Gov. Scott Walker will deliver his budget address in the state Capitol's Assembly chambers to a joint session of the Legislature.

Protesters lined up outside the King Street entrance to the Capitol this morning, waiting to be let in.

Inside that entrance at 9 a.m., Capitol Police were cordoning off areas and setting up tables similar to an airport security checkpoint to screen those entering the statehouse once the doors open. At least most of the Capitol elevators had also been shut down on Monday morning - no reason for that was clear.

Just beyond the security area, a handful of the protesters who had spent the night in the building were singing, "Whose side are you on?"

State Department of Administration executive assistant Jodi Jensen released a statement Monday saying that no one from the public would be allowed into the building until all the protesters from Sunday night leave.

"No additional protestors will be allowed into the building until this situation is resolved. Once it is, law enforcement will continue to implement the procedures that were announced this morning. Under those procedures, protestors will be allowed into the building, but crowd size will be adjusted to accommodate the cleaning crews, the preparation for the Tuesday’s joint legislative session and the number of protestors who remained in the building overnight," Jensen said.

BullSh*t. I quit surveying for the DOT in 2007 to pursue Li-censure. Now I am a Licensed professional and make less than I did when I worked for the government.

That’s a lot of police unions..no wonder they were pissed that they had to actually do work on the weekend and not be chomping on donuts.

I’ve been thinking the same thing, call in Guard and fire the police chief.

I read about that from a liberal after the Stewart Rally in DC.

Union members refuse to do another union members job.

not in their union designated work description? No workie.

Just helping a “brother” out.

And then of course, there’s the pure and simple fact that liberals are just plain uncouth pigs and have no regard for property or hygeine.

"Now he’s talking about “investing” in infrastructure"

More po' folks need crack money, and the gas prices make their Escalades more costly to drive, too...

“Says they make a fraction of what those in the private sector.”

7/4 is a fraction.

If it is anything like what the thugs left in Washington when they had the last rally then it will take gas mask to clean up..They more than likely peed on the walls like they did on the grass in Washington..No one will be able to go in there plus all the body odor that was left behind..

Unfortunately the WING may not be fully reliable. A lot of public employees of the state, counties and municipalities are in the Guard as the state encourages this . The governor does have a lot of authority to enroll’special police reserve officers” of the state police and to organize and expand an all volunteer ‘state guard’ separate from the National Guard. I am not saying events will come to this pass but you can see the potential for how nasty things could get.

“”Says they make a fraction of what those in the private sector.””

Did he REALLY say that? No wonder the man doesn’t have a clue about budgets - the ones he proposes and/or what the various states propose.

What DOES this man understand??? Besides a free ride and taking what he can while the taking is good!!

My thoughts exactly on the elevators. Hopefully, the Governor has pictures to release to the public.

Time to send in Mike Rowe for a Dirty Job.

why doesn’t the governor just pull the fire alarm on the place and then everyone has to clear out? Immediately close it to the public and allow only necessary elected officials back in. If the remaining 12 want to bang on their drums outside the building then let ‘em. Make ‘em get a permit, limit their permit’s length, don’t allow ‘em any overhead cover or heaters/firepits and we will all pray for rain/extreme cold/snow. Then the weather beaten 12 will have dwindled...or am I being too optimistic?

That used to be the case, and SHOULD be again:

1) Job security.

2) Greater benefits ACROSS THE BOARD.

3) Less accountability and certainly less demanding working conditions.

Since when does this kind of anarchy get allowed to last for over a week?

Since it was making the Democrats look bad. Walker allowed them to make fools of themselves. Now that they are starting to get organized, and get some discipline, he throws them out. He is presenting the Dems with a continuously moving target. He is keeping them off balance. And all the while he is burning time. The dems needed to make this a big deal and a force a quick decision. After a month nobody will care how many union thugs are in front of the capital. It will be old news. And nobody is going to stand out in cold spring rains when the news cameras aren't there to see it. Keep them out of the building where it is warm and dry and let mother nature do the rest.

He knows that time is on his side. Eventually one of the Dem senators is going to screw up and cross the border. He only needs the state police to bag one of them to end this.

Chief Tubbs is also a little pre-occupied with his son who went out on an arson spree because he claimed some-one ‘shot his car’!

A cop who did not want to be identified (nor his jurisdiction) called Charlie Sykes (radio talk show host in Milwaukee this morning) to say that HE endorsed and supported Walker. This was all Chief Tubbs’ doing. But, the writer couldn’t identify himself because he was on loan rom his own jurisdiction and would get in trouble if he let his identity be known.

Mark Levin talked about a CA. retired policeman and what he and his wife got as union members. Can listen to the 2/25 replay here. It’s at 20min in. http://www.marklevinshow.com/sectional.asp?id=32930#

One more time, this is the Wisconsin State House, not the neighborhood 7/11.

It's not likely the Fire Commissioner has any authority whatsoever on this particular facility.

Just one more reason to read FR, we have the smartest, quickest folks in the world.

I know its early in the week but this one gets my vote for post of the week.

Since it's FR, I know everyone here only votes once {unless we have some du trolls}.

“no one from the public would be allowed into the building until all the protesters from Sunday night leave.”

Are they trying to starve them out? Won’t the remaining protesters get hungry? Seems like a good plan to me!
