THIS is why I love Free Republic. I have learned so much about the real life experiences of my fellow Americans here. I’ll now be prepared when my son is old enough to try that stunt.
My son shifted and automatic from drive to reverse while we were going 40 mph, he was about two. It not only killed the engine, it almost stopped us. This was in the days before seat belts and child restraints. He was standing beside me on the front seat.
Still don’t know why it didn’t drop the transmission all of the road.
He’s a smart kid. He’ll figure out something that you never expected, and then do that. Trust me.
