“I’m pretty sure that Islam deserves all the credit for the screwed up mess that is Libya (and Yemen, Iran, Eygpt, Gaza, etc).

Funny how we reflexively blame white people first, even on FR. Please try to treat Muslims as adults: responsible for their actions.

After all: if we start blaming whitey for what other people do, we may as well join the NAACP.”

Post of the day!! Thanks for reminding our friends that this is NOT our problem and our treasure and blood should not be spent solving it!

Good post. A lot of information about obama the average person has no clue about.

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen says the Western military alliance will not intervene in the Libyan conflict. (AP)

I would love to hear the “international lawyers” explain NATOs rights to attack African military forays in Africa.

If NATO has the right to undertake military action against the Libyan government over its mistreatment of Libyan Muslims, that implies that NATO would have a similar right of military action against a Muslim government over its mistreatment of Christians. But don't expect the “international lawyers” to concede that.

Our track record in civil war interventions is pretty dismal. I say 'no thanks'. Would just be another Afghanistan....you know, that place we are still in for almost 10 years with little to show for it.

Big chunk of salt. I can’t see NATO helping to depose Gaddafi so that an Islamist regime can take power. These demonstrators aren’t interested in what we consider freedom. The kind of freedom they want is the freedom to kill the infidel, to stone adulterers and to wage jihad against the West. Note that there are very few women among the demonstrators, and that the very few women present are wearing burkhas.

Yay! POTD!

Obama should be paying some attention though. He needs to be protecting US nationals on the ground.

And on the larger scale he should be acting with a view to stopping the rise of some frenzied Caliphate OR securing and de-regulating domestic Oil supplies.

But we both know that he will do no such thing: an America enslaved to the whims of frenzied Islamists is his dream.

Meanwhile, Christians are slaughtered like animals in Pakistan, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq, Iran and other muslim hellholes and the world stays silent.

As for Libya, I’m torn on this one. Qaddafi is a despicable turd and a complete nutjob, but I fear his follow-on will be far worse.

Since whn would NATO have the “right” to meddle in the internal affairs of another country? (sarc)

For the love of God, why would we do that?

We need to stop the idea that the US (which is NATO) is the policeman of the world.

Let the EU handle it this time.

Bingo, spot on. Even if what we were doing resulted in less dead Muslims, we would be evil for doing it.

I would like that !

But in that case i fear that my shamefull country will support ,once again, a NATO attack.
They don’t know,as well as oummabama your shamefull president, what they are doing in this mess.
Gaddafi is a fool but the arabo-muslim ragheads waiting in the dark are probably fooler...

And i remember well the last NATO intervention in Yuguslavia with US under Clinton

“Note that there are very few women among the demonstrators, and that the very few women present are wearing burkhas.”

It was the same in Egypt until the mob leaders there realized it was bad PR and people were starting to notice. Then they brought out the families for TV and the MSM beamed it up.

Bingo - too many freepers take the opposition at their word. Of course they're going to say things we want to hear. If they can persuade us that inside every Libyan is an American waiting to get out, maybe we'll jump in and win their war for them. Why risk their lives when they can get Americans to risk ours. They consider Gaddafi an infidel - the best of all possible worlds would be to get the Great Satan to fight the infidel within - that way the dead are all infidels.

What a joke. You are right. The US Tax Payer is about to go meddle in other peoples business so that Libya can be stable and sell its oil to China like Iraq is doing.
