You got it wrong. The troopers are sent out to locations within the state (their jurisdiction) where they have info that the Senators may be. IOW, they go and check their homes and give them the “opportunity” to comply with state law. They also demonstrate that if these cretins DO come back, but refuse to go to work, the troopers will come pick them up at their homes or wherever.

There is nothing worthless about the message being sent. It also demonstrates to the public that, in fact, these senators are breaking the law by fleeing outside the jurisdiction.

but in reality the Senators could stand on the border on the other state's side and thumb their noses at the Wisc. trooper and I doubt they could legally do a darn thing about it. Ideally you are right but practically, I am.
