A Message From the SEIU President Regarding Wisconsin (Who Knows How I got on their email list ???)
Email | 02/19/2010 | Mary Kay Henry, President SEIU

Posted on 02/20/2011 10:53:11 AM PST by apillar

SEIU brothers and sisters,

As I write, 30,000 people are gathered outside of the Capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin speaking out against Republican Governor Scott Walker's attempt to take away collective bargaining rights from public employees.

Almost 14,000 of our SEIU brothers and sisters stand to lose their rights if Governor Walker gets his way: 9,000 nurses and nursing home staff, along with about 5,000 home care workers.

They've been out there among the demonstrators all week.

We've set up a page on our website that allows you to send a message of support to our SEIU family and everyone else fighting for their rights outside the Capitol.

Share your well-wishes for the working families in Wisconsin and we'll make sure they receive them this weekend.

http://www.seiu.me/wisconsin

While the collective bargaining rights of our members are at stake, it's important to note that the conversation taking place is about more than that alone. When Scott Walker manufactured this crisis by giving tax cuts to corporations and his special interest friends last month, it escalated a state legislative debate into a struggle for economic justice with large corporations not paying their fair share to get Americans back to work.

When you see the news of our members in Wisconsin on the television and online, those are the things they're fighting for.

Send a message to your SEIU brothers and sisters who have been outside the Capitol all week and we'll make sure they receive it.

Scott Walker claims this is about saving money, but President Obama said it best: this is an "assault on unions."

But it's not just union members at risk; it's the services these members provide-whether that be as teachers, public safety personnel or home health care workers.

I'll be in touch soon with updates from Wisconsin and other states where working families are under attack from a new crop of Republican governors.

In solidarity,

Mary Kay Henry

President, SEIU

PS - Republicans are trying to take away workers' rights in at least ten states. But if we stop them in Wisconsin, we'll make a strong statement that America will not tolerate any more Republican attacks on the middle class. Stand with workers in Wisconsin now:

The RNC would rather be the minority party than see real reduction in government spending.

With much of their funding coming from businesses and individuals who want "protection" from government agencies, and reduction in government oppression reduces their revenue and power.

It should be the case that no politician serves more than two terms, and then is barred from acting as a lobbyist or power broker.

I hope SEIU will make many more rallys like this..
Renta mobs make good conservative television....

They offset TpCaucus rallys beautifully..

Hope "somebody" will video the trash left by these people AFTER THE MOB disperses..
Will make for some lovely sound and video bites...

It's now evident that SEIU is freely providing the Obama administration with brownshirts to do their thuggery.

The SEIU also clearly occupied a special role in Obama's election. Moreover, their president, Andy Stern was the most frequent visitor to the White House (weekly) and said to be "the most influential man in Washington".

Then, without warning, Stern resigned from the leadership of the SEIU -- in April, 2010 -- and has essentially disappeared from public view.

It's curious, isn't it?

Why would the most powerful voice in the union movement and "the most influential man in Washington" suddenly resign his position? Even as his union was apparently taking over a special (and unconstitutional) role for the President of the United States?

And, at the peak of his power, why would he suddenly vanish from public view?

Worth investigating...???

The only difference is the state won’t automatically take union dues out of your check. Instead, the employee will have to agree to have the dues taken out of their checks, which means people won’t be FORCED to join the union, they will have a CHOICE!

lol, sounds like my old oldsmobile. It would be one thing if people had a choice whether to belong or not, but to threaten and use intimidation and violence... well you have to threaten back because that's just the way you deal with bullies

A lot of businesses like regulation cause it boxes out startups. They fund the Sierra Club and other agencies like the EPA cause they outlaw chemicals that are not patented. Classic case was Freon. R-134 was already invented, but didn't sell because it was less effective, more toxic, and the acidity damaged systems. Suddenly, Freon is an environmental hazard, and the much more expensive R-134 is the only option.

You can see it played out all over the place. Multi-national corporations love to use government to outlaw the competition.

We refused to send money to the RNC, because they were pushing RINO’s. We sent the money to the candidates of our choice, so I s’pose the RNC doesn’t have the money to bus in supporters for Walker.

Guess we’ll just have to do it ourselves.

Nowadays, you shake your Internet-capable phone in the thug's direction, saying even if you do kill me, my family, my sons, my friends, Tea Partiers from across the land and the police will all within the hour have the thug's picture and the recorded threat just issued available via download. Many will find the thug and it won't end pretty for him!

“Speaking of which, is it time to impeach Eric Holder yet?”

Political appointes can't be impeached.

But his boss can be...

: ) Want to start an impeachment petition?
I'll sign it.
