Some Wisconsin doctors threw their support behind teachers protesting the Republican governor's efforts to strip unions of their bargaining powers, saying they would write sick notes for teachers to skip work to demonstrate.
The union protesters have been picketing the state capitol in Madison for five days, angered by Gov. Scott Walker's proposed bill, which has the backing of the Republican controlled state Senate.
The Madison School District has said teachers who call in sick to protest won't be paid, but a group of licensed Wisconsin doctors came to the capitol today saying they would write a physician's note for anyone who asked.
Dr. Kathy Oriel told ABC affiliate WKOW-TV in Madison that the doctors realize they could get in trouble for their offer.
"We think its worth the risk," she said. "Teachers have no choice."
The physicians told WKOW-TV that they are acting on their own, not in connection with any hospitals or organizations, but they said the notes are valid.

These doctors must have written many other illegal scripts as well.
“...but a group of licensed Wisconsin doctors came to the capitol today saying they would write a physician’s note for anyone who asked.”
Couldn’t they be charged with fraud and have their license revoked - at a minimum?
Its time for those union terds to get off their high horse and get in the field pickin cotton like the rest of us.
And even more shocking, not send a bill!!

just let them stay out....who cares if a few commie docs say this....I will guess that the vast majority of docs think the teachers and other “public” servants are whiners and jerks....
It should be known that any teacher who presents these fraudulent notes is courting termination and doctors who write them face suspension of their medical licenses.
No doubt state paid doctors.
isn’t there something about fraudulant medical practice, putting false information down on insurance papers?
Im telling you, notify their mal practice insurance provider, Ask them what happens if one of these doctors missed a obvious serious condition because they stated they examined these people and missed it. It is the Malpractice providers that will have the heaviest hit on these docs.
I have always felt that mid westerners had more old fashioned values than other parts of the nation.
If the mid western professionals are as ethical as a den of thieves, there is not really much left to save in this country.
“Bummercare? They should talk about choice!”
We have to pass the Walker bill to see what’s in it. Don’t we?
Don't be a fool, that's what they're counting on. Bye-bye teachers equals overcrowded classrooms and general chaos in the schools. The teachers know they have the upper hand in this because at the end of the day, the teachers will get by, the governor will go on, but the children will pay dearly and they're hoping to get political traction out of that and that alone.
They are in the University of Wisconsin medical system. At least two are.
There may be some flak, but don’t fool yourself. No doctor is going to lose his/her license to practice medicine over a fraudulent note to miss work. It just doesn’t work that way. It’s hard enough to strip a license when they kill or maim people.
Not even at a remote maximum. No chance in hell.
The Doc’s can be replaced.
Sending your kid(s) to be educated by union thugs in government schools seems like willing child abuse.
Well, now the doctors know that any notes from this Dr. Oriel are fake...easier for them.
I think Wisconsin FReepers should go to the protests, take copious pictures and send the pictures to all the school supervisors in Madison so they can weed those who call in sick with the “Irish flu” from their ranks and replace them with teachers who give a damn about teaching.
