Oh well. All of this and they are having a Battle Royal over 60 Billion of cuts. We are done for. 60 Billion is a mere drop in the bucket. What they are really fighting about is who can get the biggest share of the Loot. Looks like we have a lot more work to do next year. Til then we might as well take a vacation.

If the government was shut down - would any one miss it? Republicans should not back down. There is a political cost of course but giving up on their key signature initiative would be a betrayal of the voters who sent them to Washington. If we’re not going to cut spending now, it will never happen.

If Republicans can’t fight for $60 billion in cuts, they might as well go home. Make no mistake about it, the forces that favor our unsustainable course are deeply entrenched in Washington and if we go down the path we’ve been going on for the past several years, America won’t have a future. Its that simple.

You are correct. All this bickering over about 3 1/2 % of the annual deficit.

Like I said, if they can’t get this done, forget about talk of $500 billion in reductions. They were supposed to get $100 billion in this bill and they couldn’t even achieve that target.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) attacked the Republicans' bill, which she contends will destroy jobs.
This coming out of the mouth a Speaker that stated "unemployment is a great economic stimulator" .....snip...."It is the biggest bang for the buck when you do food stamps and unemployment insurance. The biggest bang for the buck," she said. "
Pelosi fires back at Gingrich over food stamps
Unless I don't understand the English language very well, I would think the loss of jobs would be great for the economy (according to this dumbell RAT).

Are you kidding? That is the only thing they do over and over and over - it is in their DNA. The GOP simply does not work well when in the majority.
It is time for a 3rd party - the TEA PARTY. Drive the Grand OLD Party into extinction, the way the Whigs went.

The Senate will be another matter though.

This is why Jeff Flake cannot be the next Senator from Arizona. It would be like letting the “Evil Twins” from Maine have a male playmate.

It's a very important start.
Next up, defund ObamaCare.
Dittoes to that statement! Way to go, GOP! You are delivering on the promises you made to the electorate even if nobody in the media will acknowledge it.
One small step for man... one giant leap for mankind.

How so? According to the article Flake is one of only 3 republicans who voted against the bill because it fails to cut enough and fails to meet the pledge.

I think it’s more about a battle for who can win the most political points. I don’t think they believe that this will actually get passed.
All these representatives are just defunding unpopular things that aren’t in the least bit controversial amongst their constitutents. I’d wager a large sum of money that the GOP won’t take even a dime from areas where it might hurt them.

How do we stop it? We were unable to stop Juan Mcamnesty from being elected up against JD Hayworth. AZ is very conservative with exceptions of ares in Tucson (home of UofA) and Tempe (home of ASU don't ya know).

$61 billion? Rather like spittin’ in the ocean, IMO.
It’s time for substantive cuts, driven by pushing the Federal leviathan back within the confines of the Constitution.
Of course, the pubbies couldn’t even muster the intestinal fortitude to force an additional $20 billion, so I’m not hopeful that we’ll see significant change prior to 2013.

For so many years both sides of the aisle have allowed the hole to become so deep it is now impossible to fill. How can anyone expect us to do away with hundreds of billions of dollars of waste just in a few months of a new congress.
AT least the new majority is taking a stab at it.
