Wisconsin GOP sends state troopers after Democrat

Republicans in the Wisconsin state Senate have asked the governor to send state troopers after Democratic leader Mark Miller.

Senate Democrats are boycotting a Senate vote on a bill that would strip public sector workers of their collective bargaining rights. They have been missing from the Capitol for a day and a half.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he has asked Gov. Scott Walker to send two state troopers to Miller's home in Monona. He says he believes the troopers are en route.

What would stop a republican from changing his party affiliation to democrat then changing it back?

I kind of like things like they are. The unions are spending a lot of money and the Democrats aren't stinking up the legislature. The Democrats have the chance to be heard, instead they prefer to get drunk.

If there are a lot of issues which can be solved by passing laws not needing a quorum, the Republicans need to get them ready and on Monday, let 'er rip.

The old saying is that you can't complain if you don't vote. It applies here too. If you don't show up to work, then don't complain if the Republicans pass a lot of things you don't like.

Escape From Behind the Cheddar Curtain

Let me tell you what’s actually happening in Wisconsin, in my “humble” opinion.

The Wisconsin legislature is the representative body of the citizens of the state. They elect representatives on a local level to act on their behalf at the state level. When a state representative or senator acts in an official capacity, he or she is doing so as a representative of the people who elected them. This is why we say we in the US have a “representative” republic form of government.

When state representatives or senators play tricks in order to prevent the legislature from doing its business, they are denying the voters of the state of Wisconsin the right to Constitutionally-required representation in their government.

The people voted and put these members in the state legislature. Those people did so in order to have representation at the state level. And as a result those representatives and senators are duty-bound to allow the business of the state…the business of the citizens of that state…to go forward.

By leaving the state to prevent the Wisconsin Senate from being able to have a quorum those Democrat senators involved prevented the citizens from having their rightful votes carried through to legislation in the Senate by their representatives; they denied the citizens of Wisconsin…all the citizens…from the right to due representation.

This outrageous act of defiance is not an act against the Governor, nor against any or all of the other members of the legislature. It’s an act against the citizens, and against the concept of representative government. Certainly, this is one of the most un-American acts I’ve witnessed from a group of elected officials I’ve seen in my lifetime.

F that...

I would rather get what we want done actually done! If there is a way to bypass the socialist POS dems and exclude them from the process, then that means we can get nearly EVERYTHING that we want passed.

We elected these people to do enact an agenda not give us a song a dance.

These senators failure to get this done means that they were never serious about getting this done. They need to be recalled, if they dont grow a nut sack and get it done.

They need 20 warm bodies. Affiliation is irrelevant for quorum.

Kind of like what happened in Oklahoma a few years back when all the Dems headed out of state to delay a vote on something like immigration reform IIRC. Gutless Slimeballs all of them.

not necessarily your mistake...

The way they have it structured at the moment is as an appropriations bill which does require a 2/3rd quorum. However... there was no reason for them to structure it that way other than to give them an excuse to not actually pass the damn thing.

This was THEIR “mistake”, not yours... But perhaps we can “instruct” these “Good Senators” on the proper way of getting our agenda passed without the need of the socialist terrorists support or even presence.

The good people of Wisconsin gave us the number to get our agenda passed and that is EXACTLY what should be happening RIGHT NOW!

END the BS drama and get our agenda passed NOW! ALL OF IT!!!

I just like watching the Democrats and unions get hysterical and run in circles. But practically speaking, it really is better to just get down to business and get the things done that must be done.

My understanding is that the quorum rules apply only to spending bills. Am I wrong?

=) never fear... We can do both.. We can get exactly what we want, THEN watch them burn themselves to the ground.

This happened a few years ago in Texas when the Rats bolted out of the state and ran to OK in order to avoid a vote on redistricting...a vote which eventually passed.

That mutt is my state senator unfortunately. I just called his office and asked why he was not at the capitol and avoiding the bedlam going on there.
He should be kicked out of office as with the other rats that fail to do their duty. I don’t show for work- I get fired..
I just watched on the local tv news a state senator live on camera sitting in Chicago stating he wouldn’t return until the “Situation” changes
My kids are out another day because of this C..P

Sort of. It was the Dims in the Texas State legislature that ran to Oklahoma to avoid voting on redistricting.
