I’ve read comments from a couple of people on FR - maybe you were one of them? - that did hear an exchange between 0bummer and Keyes about 0bummer not being eligible for President. Apparently it was in between or after the “official” debate. Were you one of the people that heard and saw this?

The people writing your posts were making it up out of thin air. If Obama had really said it, don't you think Keyes, himself a birther, would be shouting it from the rooftops? And yet Keyes has yet to mention it. Don't you find that at all curious?

I had watched a re-broadcast of the debates between Keyes and Obama from the 2004 Senate race.
C-Span was advertising them as “unedited” and the played two of the debates back-to-back.
Hillary had dropped out of the race a few or several weeks earlier in January 2008, and I really knew very little of Obama, (other than the empty suit, lying Carter retread part) but I knew Alan Keyes, and was looking forward to the re-broadcast because I never watched them before. My local radio station was advertising them for over a week and a half.

I have read the Post and email story here at FR and my recollection was Keyes was making a point about American sovereignty, I can’t remember exactly what he was talking about, but I believe it was about foreign policy, and he surmised his main point as to why he made such a good envoy for Regan and remarked as to why we only let natural born Citizens become president because only someone of American sovereignty could be trusted with such a job.

However, Alan Keys comment was not directed towards Obama at all, but rather educating the masses as to how intelligent Keyes is. You know how Keyes can get. The statement could have even been a progression of thought from Alan about illegal aliens, I just can’t recall that part exactly. But Keyes never directed his comment to Obama at all, it was in response to a question and Keyes was making a grand standing statement about the U.S.A. and the Constitution. It just never had been directed at or concerned Obama, which is why it was stunning that Obama made the comment he did that “I am running for Illinois Senator, not President”. It was out of place and queer. The moderator cut off Obama saying time was up or something after Obama made the statement.

I heard it, and saw it in 2008. And I will never forget it. And I remember exactly like the Post & Email article that said ‘At the end of the airing,’ “the C-Span host noted, as he read from a single sheet of paper, placed before him, that the Obama Campaign had contacted them and requested them to point out to their viewers that Obama’s response here should not be understood as a denial that he is a natural born citizen.”

That part I will forever remember. The Obots were steamed!!!

My recollection differs just a little from those in the Post and Email, but I will not forget.

I watched all the videos and you tubes of the debates to no avail. Scrubbed!

But it was not a “back-stage” comment. It was part of the debate. The one where Keyes and Obama were standing at the podiums, and I believe it was the Women’s league one.

“In the introduction to the rebroadcast of the debates, the C-Span host noted that C-Span had decided to air them because of the growing interest in Washington, D.C., in Barack Obama. He also pointed out that C-Span was not airing the version seen in Chicago the previous fall, and which Keyes was to distribute in diverse media on his website; that C-Span had requested from the TV station in Chicago the unedited tapes of the debate, and that only on C-Span would they be aired.”

This is the way I remember it advertised here on my local radio, even though I did not know what the big deal was about being a different version, aside from watching everyone stop and wait for station identification commercials, like a TV timeout for football.

To this day, I still can’t find anything in the TV listings of C-Span even airing those debates.
E.V. spanked me in one of my first comments here and said it never happened and that he had spoke to Keyes, and even he said so. I think the confusion is how Keyes never called Obama out, Obama called Obama out, and it only makes sense today as to what exactly Obama was so defensive about in the Senate race.

However, back then nobody cared that he was the Kenyan-Born Senator! :0)

This was my post before.
