I would disagree with that, she most definitely is responsible for what happened to her. What she did was the equivalent of walking naked down the street in the bad part of town where the gang bangers hang out. She set herself up for this by dressing in western clothes and going to a location where a near riot was happening with thousands of Muslim men (who are known to do this type of thing).

Personally I think that she gets a thrill or adrenalin rush from going into these kinds of dangerous situations since she’s done it before and gotten away with it. In any case she is as responsible as the people that assaulted her in what happened to her.

Nobody is saying she wasn’t foolish to be there, but that does NOT excuse the men from raping her.

I think she is ignorant in the same way that a lot of leftists are. They think because Egyptians use Twitter or other current technology that their culture is modern as well. It is similar to their belief that one can have "peace talks" with an enemy who wants you not just dead but really, really dead. It's why animals like Ahmadinejad get invited to speak at Columbia University. The root of the word ignorance is ignore. Theirs is willful ignorance.

This woman was described as appearing elated as she swam toward a polar bear at the Berlin Zoo in 2009. She evidently thought the bear was just a big fuzzy and friendly creature. She ignored its true nature and it mauled her.

Why focus on the poor woman instead of the murderous thugs that assaulted her? Of course, given her experience in the Muslim world, it is odd that she would place herself in that situation - probably due to raw ambition, wanting to be in the center of the action. Having lived in the Arab world, I know how they go nuts over attractive Western blonds. She must have known that as well. But from the photo she seems to be dressed modestly (a head scarf may have helped). But the whole incident just highlights the murderous hatred and incendiary violence that is always just under the surface in the Arab world. But this woman has paid a heavy price for her ambition, and our indignation should be directed towards those who assaulted her.
