Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), the Tea Party star and possible presidential candidate, says that there is no chance of a government shutdown.
"That's not going to happen because that won't serve anyone's interest," Bachmann said in an interview with Newsmax. "That's a bugaboo that the liberals right now are trying to throw out to scare the American people. No one is going to agree to a government shutdown. That will not happen. So let's just take that off the table."
Earlier in the interview, Bachmann also said Congress had to make sure to forbid any funding for the implementation of health care care reform, "Which would mean that we would be repealing Obamacare for the next two years, until we can elect a new president that will actually vote out Obamacare."
And she also added: "So I think we need something to change the arc of history. And if we don't fund Obamacare and if we don't fund cap and trade, that will change the arc of history."

I kind of like the idea of a government shutdown. What I don't like is the Republicans being passive about letting the Democrats put the blame on them for letting it happen before anything happens. Basically that gives them an edge in negotiations because if they don't get their way and shut the government down they've already got the Republicans set up to take the blame for it. It is very bad that the Republicans have allowed this to happen.
If I were them I would be saying something like "I sincerely hope that the Democrats won't force a government shutdown because they've taken an unreasonable position on denying the budget cuts that we have to pass in order to save the county."
...she also added: "So I think we need something to change the arc of history. And if we don't fund Obamacare and if we don't fund cap and trade, that will change the arc of history."
