He endorsed Jeb- who is weak. I found it curious. Senators live in a world of give-and-take; much more compromising than their House counterparts who stand frequent re-election.

I’m not against him. If he gets the nod I’ll vote for him.

Don’t think it will happen, though.

They have one quote from DeMint which is also published here:

http://draftjimdemint.com/2011/01/19/demint-at-this-point-it%E2%80%99s-not-my-plan-or-intention-to-run-myself/
“At this point, it’s not my plan or intention to run myself,” DeMint said last month.

Then then go with the fact that later, however, DeMint was named as a keynote speaker for the Conservative Principles Conference in Iowa, lead by Steve King.

Believe me, it’s not worth it to subscribe to Gannet/GreenvilleOnline. If it wasn’t free with my local paper, I wouldn’t have it.

"He won’t be the nominee, though."

I honestly can't think of a way he wouldn't be the nominee. He would be hands-on social conservative favorite, and he's highly regarded by the Tea Parties. He could win one of the first primaries without campaigning, and I think he'd be hard to beat in Iowa.

Also, if DeMint gets in, I think it likely that Barbour doesn't. If Barbour doesn't, DeMint would easily sweep the Southern states. That' the ballgame.

I think DeMint is the best “candidate” so far.

I hate Senators as President ... I’d like to get some executive experience back in the WH. However, out of all of the “candidates” (nothing is formal yet) I’ve seen thus far, he’d be the best. There’s still a lot of time though.

I know you dislike Palin, pissant ... this is not a “refudiation” of her ... I just can’t see her winning in 2012.

Pat Toomey here in PA won with a slim lead in a non Presidential election year ... there’s no way Palin would take PA in 2012. More importantly, the races in OH that were represented by a conservative were close ... Palin would NOT win Ohio. She’d either have to flip PA or win back OH from 2008 to even have a shot. Having said that, if Palin would run and win either of those states, I would be happy to eat my words :-)!

A Pres. DeMint, a solid Senate Majority, and House Majority ... all representing conservatism ... would turn this country around ... big time. I think liberals would *really* start to leave the USA if this were to happen. The 1960s may FINALLY be over :-)!

You may well be right. I can’t denigrate him, and won’t.

He’ll have to build some momentum, quick.

As for Barbour, et al. People who aren’t serious won’t spend money- if they are waiting for a dove to land on their shoulder and hordes to call their name; ain’t happening.

"Pat Toomey here in PA won with a slim lead in a non Presidential election year ..."

Toomey's campaign was almost single-handedly sunk by Christine O'Donnell. He was up with a comfortable lead, but then O'Donnell and all her mishigas started to bleed over from DE, due in no small part to the fact that almost of of DE shares a media market with eastern PA.

I think without O'Donnell, Toomey wins that race by at least 6.

I am not an expert :-)! Moreover, a lot of this is anecdotal ... however :

I live in Western PA and saw a LOT of disdain for Dan Onarato here. If I am not mistaken, a majority of voters here in Allegheny County went for Corbett. Onarato was *well* hated. Obama is a million times worse than Dan, but I know W. Pa will flip back to “safe Obama” in 2012. I think the whole Governor race may have offset what you saw with O’Donnell (I do agree with your point by the way though I didn’t want to see Castle in there either).

For the record, I liked O’Donnell and LOVE Sarah Palin ... I just think we need someone else running in 2012. I think DeMint would be the right answer. The election is still two years out ... a lot will happen between now and then!

I have my doubts about the kind of candidate he would be. I think he would be a wise president though.

He’s a good dude- glad to have him on our side. His endorsement of Jeb B. was a little strange, but JB is probably the most conservative Bush.

I believe that was just to see if Jeb would take the bait and declare that he would run. A DeMint candidacy would rock the GOP party and fire up the conservative base. By the way, he has an MBA. That would be quite refreshing to businesses and entrepreneurs after replacing that marxist we currently have in office.

GREAT news!

And I will guarantee that Jim won't think that GOProud has a place in Conservative thought and principles like Palin does.
