Someone on another site that I go to for fun arguing times against liberals told me that the moratorium was lifted.

I know a very intelligent guy who is a hard-core liberal. Hard core. Now, before you say "you're nuts," let me explain: it was one of those cases where the person is extremely skillful in a relatively narrow area; in this case, software development. I worked with the guy for more than a year, and there's no doubt: he's smart, and highly educated, in the area of computer science.

But you couldn't have any kind of argument with him, really about anything, but especially about politics. You couldn't even have a discussion with him, because any discussion turned into an argument in a matter of seconds.

The reason was related to you're observation:

Someone on another site that I go to for fun arguing times against liberals told me that the moratorium was lifted.

The person I'm speaking of would, when confronted with really irresistable evidence of the factual wrongness of something he was asserting, simply make up a "fact" to place himself on the right side of the argument. He would state this "fact" with such utter sincerity, confidence, rectitude, that disputing the statement could only lead to an altarcation which, it being an "at work only" relationship, never happened, and he "won" the argument by default. I say "won" in quotes because, of course, he only won in his own mind, but that was enough for him.
