Since this was asked in sincerity I will attempt to answer in kind.

There are several reasons why I do not consider Palin to be my kind of conservative. That is first and foremost, and I have been very up front on laying out those reasons. For a short while, after her good speech at the GOP convention and watching her campaign for McCain/Palin, was impressed. Then came her interview with Univision, where she echoed McCain’s ‘pathway to citizenship crapola amnesty plan.

I no longer could support her. They lost to the boy marxist, and I was happy to ignore her or wish her well as Alaska’s gubner.

Then a group here started pushing her for president. No biggie. That’s part of what makes FR great. But I found these folks here trying to tell me her amnesty wasn’t amnesty and that “Only Sarah” could take out Obama, to the obvious exclusion of other real conservatives, then I decided to dig a bit deeper. Not only pro-amnesty, but pro-Title IX, pro carbon caps, believes global warming “is real and we have to do something about it”, pro-TARP (even scolding conservatives for opposing it in her book), pro-LOST, and now, it appears, pro DADT repeal.

I just don’t support her. She is in the same camp with the rest of them to me. Conservative on some things with a liberal streak a mile wide.

On some of the issues you site, I agree. The Title IX support is unseemly, in my eyes.

For many of the rest of the issues, I have not yet seen independent stands taken by her. By that, I mean she hasn’t addressed how President (or “Queen”) Palin would address some of the issues (that I have seen).

In all honesty, I find myself hoping I can fully support Palin in a Presidential quest. To do that, I believe she has significant milestones to achieve - the first many of which are her independent declarations of policy intent. She is still tainted with her need to support McCain in the last elections. In 2008, she had to parrot his line. In 2010, she had to support his reelection in a political payback.

She is one candidate who interests me for 2012.

I would ask mostly that we try to allow the campaign to be waged between the candidates based on their campaigns, which includes their records. Palin appears to be appropriately conservative to me (pending contradiction that I see), as do Bachmann and Demint.

In the end, I believe they need to be allowed to define themselves before we pass judgment. In my mind, Palin has not had that chance, yet.

Your use of the “Quayled” descriptor does not help in that respect, either. “Quayled” is a term that describes when the political opponent defines the candidate, and is the exact opposite of what we need to consider.

I know I have not likely swayed your opinion, pissant. But please consider that the arguments you are presenting to the rest of us are emotional, and therefore ineffective. You argue that the media has destroyed her, yet she endures as a media target because she is not destroyed.

Sorry if I have not made sense here - LOL.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called studies supporting global climate change a “bunch of snake oil science” Monday during a rare appearance in California, a state that has been at the forefront of environmental regulations. ... -http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/02/09/politics/main6189211.shtml

... Many folks are trying to convince me that Sarah Palin, as conspiracy nut Alex Jones’ proclaims, is a fake and pro-amnesty for illegals. The above information is from a site that claims to articulate where Sarah Palin stands on the issues. In what is above, where does it say she is pro-amnesty?

Like Palin, I support a path to citizenship for those that wish to immigrate legally to this country. Remember, my wife is an immigrant that came here legally as a child with her parents, and naturalized in 2007. But, as does my wife and Palin, I do not support amnesty for those who are here illegally. If they are willing to break the law to come here, who knows what other laws they are willing to break. ... -http://politicalpistachio.blogspot.com/2010/03/sarah-palin-on-immigration-and-amnesty.html

... I am deeply concerned about President Obama’s cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

American prosperity has always been driven by the steady supply of abundant, affordable energy. Particularly in Alaska, we understand the inherent link between energy and prosperity, energy and opportunity, and energy and security. Consequently, many of us in this huge, energy-rich state recognize that the president’s cap-and-trade energy tax would adversely affect every aspect of the U.S. economy. ... -http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/13/AR2009071302852.html
