Rioting muslims destroyed the library at Alexandria. This has been going on for centuries. There weren't any muslims in 48 BC.

Few serious scholars accept the myth of the Muslim destruction of the library - it is almost universally accepted that the library was destroyed in about 48 BC as an unintended consequence of Julius Caesar torching the Egyptian fleet.
The Taliban destruction of the twin Buddhas, on the other hand, is a documented, verifiable fact - and I think more relevant to the muslim (lack of) respect for ancient culture.
