MARTINEZ, Calif. -- Police were issuing a warning Monday night about a growing trend of guns being painted in vivid colors that make real firearms appear to be toys.
Authorities were concerned about the difficulty of telling the difference between these brightly colored real guns and fakes.

I bet this will result in more tweens screaming “from my cold dead hands” in the future.
I guess cops should just shoot anyone holding something that looks like a gun, no matter what the color? That is if firearms makers are going to make, and Americans are going to buy, guns that are decorated like water pistols.
Or are we supposed to hold off for a closer look and sometimes go ahead and get killed, or let someone else get killed? Because we can’t tell if a gun is real or pretend?
You see a teen boy acting silly and pointing a green gun at a crowd. Is he a silly kid playing with a squirt gun, or a deranged kid about to shoot a bunch of people?
You see some young adults crawling around nearby bushes with realistic looking weapons. Plotting an invasion of your property? Or playing Airsoft?
I wouldn’t let my kids play Airsoft in our neighborhood. Some kids I knew got drawn on my police officers because the Airsofts look like real weapons. Drawn on! They could have been shot if they’d made a stupid move! Could I have blamed the cops in this case?
Myself, I am for guns looking like guns and toys looking like toys. I don’t know what I’d do if a serious looking adult pulled what looked like a toy gun on me. Should I assume it is a toy? Or shoot him?
I do not have an answer for this, but to say, I think there is a problem here.
The liberties that would be lost attacking this bill are greater than the liberties that would be gained from allowing these p8nt schemes. They might take our airsoft guns from our warm, cheeto encrusted sticky hands.
It was only a question of how long it would take the criminal element to use this strategy (painting real guns to look like toys), not a question of 'if' they would.
my firearms are not for show. If I have to clear a holster, there won’t be any doubt it’s real

I need a(nother) beer. My eyes hurt.
I’ve heard of bundt cakes. Now you’re tell me there are “butt cakes?”
I’ve always thought that toy guns that look like real ones weren’t a good idea.
Years ago I thought the bad guys would do this, but they were a bit slow catching on.
I have a pink 9mm.
There is a problem here, and it is not with guns, or "colored" guns or toy guns.
