ElBaradei: The man to lead a 'free' Egypt? (ElBaradei: Egypt revolt inspired by "Yes We Can" motto)

(CNN) -- When thousands of angry protesters take to the streets of Egypt on Friday, one man many see as the country's next potential leader will be among them.

The Cairo-born former head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog, Nobel Peace Prize winner Mohamed ElBaradei on Thursday returned to the country, despite death threats, to be with "his people." "There was an edict against me a couple of weeks ago basically saying that my life should be dispensable because I am defying the rulers," ElBaradei told CNN on Tuesday.

ElBaradei has yet to form a political party but hundreds of thousands of Egyptians have set up Facebook groups supporting his candidacy. One "Elbaradei for Presidency of Egypt_ 2011" counts more than 200,000 members.

After three terms as the IAEA's director general, ElBaradei stepped down at the end of 2009. He was hoping to settle into a quiet retirement, but his return to Egypt during the week's unrest suggests that he is not content to sit and watch from the sidelines.

He said the Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia that saw the expulsion of long-term President Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali in mid-January had spurred action in Egypt.

"It sent a message everywhere to the Arab world that, to quote Barack Obama, 'Yes, we can,' you know, that it is doable."

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

I have a feeling El-Baradei is going to follow in the footsteps of Kerensky and Bani-Sadr.

Right, one (third) world under Obama. First his mantra, then his agenda. LOL

"No way..He ran interference for the Mullahs in Iran building a Nuclear weapons arsenal." Just what I was thinking. However, the Muslim Brotherhood might use him as a willing front-man. But make no mistake, Egypt will become increasingly radicalized.

It sounds like ElBaradei is going to become the new ruler of Egypt. I suspect this means that 0bama will want us to send big buck$ to Egypt to prop him up for a while. So much for reducing the defict.

If we had Conservatives in the House this would be a problem. We hold the purse strings. Right?

after the scenes of the last 4 days 0bama is going to appeal to the American people and make ‘aid to the Arab world’ a major part of his budget. I doubt that the GOP is going to want to stand in front of that train. Unfortunately, he will also ask for a lot of money for domestic spending and I don’t think the GOP will have the ‘nads to deny that either.

I am just wondering if Zahwahiri will be bold enough to return to Egypt to take control.

No one is mentioning HIM. He went with Osama Bin Laden and Al-qaeda when he was expelled from Egypt. If Mubarek runs for the safety of some Euro dictator club, what is to stop him from assuming a leadership position in his home country?

“It sounds like ElBaradei is going to become the new ruler of Egypt. I suspect this means that 0bama will want us to send big buck$ to Egypt to prop him up for a while.”

Don’t be glum. With the birth certificate problem hanging over his head and posing potentially a crippling barrier to his having a second term, perhaps Obama will abdicate (just saw The King’s Speech last night, so “abdicate” sounds like a great idea) and make himself available to lead a Muslim country for whom his skills, ideas, and rhetoric are far better suited. It’s hard to imagine ElBaradei claiming he could be a better leader than The One.

“The same Nobel prize winner who screwed the pooch with the Iraq WMDs.”

He didn’t screw the pooch. He lied like a good little operative for the Muslim Brotherhood. He was the agent in place.

As Amb. John Bolton stated this morning:

“If ElBaradei is the answer, I’d hate to hear the question.”

Soros/Brzezinski connection

Their guy Mohamed El Baradei was sent over there. El Baradei is hooked up with Soros/Brzezinski through the International Crisis Group. They condemned Mubarak right away by calls for the government to stop using violence against the protesters

How I wish Bolton was in the White House....yeah yeah I know he isn’t the strongest social conservative in the world, but right now in history there are much bigger fish to fry.

It is disgusting to try to give Obama any credit for this move towards democracy, if that indeed is what it is. Obama spent the first year of his presidency going around the world, affirming the status quo, turning his back on freedom fighters everywhere, and kissing every dictator's ass.

It was George W. Bush, mocked by American liberals, who affirmed freedom and democracy as basic human aspirations, not mere cultural biases of the West, and who made the first serious efforts to transform and uproot Middle Eastern despotism.
