Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) represents one of the largest Egyptian-American populations in America.
"We do not want history to record that we had a failed democratic revolution within our enemy Iran, and a succesful revolution within our ally Egypt that led to consequences for our national security.

They may call it a “democratic revolution” but I seriously doubt they will end up with a real Democracy in Egypt. They will trade one form of dicatorship for another. Islam is largely incompatible with Democracy.
Revolutions like that should be looked at through the prism of how it affects the geopolitical situation for the entire region and the national security interests of America as a whole. If the concept of one person one vote ushers in a regime friendly to islamofascism at the expense of the security of America, its allies, and its security and commercial interests, than the status quo must be maintained as a matter of national urgency..
You can’t give votes to murderers and expect to survive.
Yes, you are right, and are correctly articulating the Kissingerian Realpolitik.
I wonder if he is concerned with the MI redistricting and the loss of one seat? Maybe he will end up going against Massa Dingell (current owner of the Dingell Family Plantation). ?
I see McCotter on Red Eye almost every other week. He’s great on that show.
Islam is sedition to Constitutional Republics.
I think poverty drives Islamics towards radicalism and that is what is at the root of this “revolution”. I am convinced that various radical islamic elements are seeking to create a vacuum in order to fill it with their own puppets who will, undoubtedly, not be friendly to the West.
I haven’t seen Thad leading in the House. (drilling, health care, borders, spending, etc).
We need to produce more oil in this hemisphere, NOW!.
He is one of the very few - perhaps only - Republican Congressmen that Charlie Rose will invite on during a panel discussion. He does very well there too, especially considering the company that's usually with him on those panels - 5:1, or worse.
seems like it’s time.
Thanks GVnana.
I hate to sound like the voice of doom but I can't imagine how this will end well for the US. Damned if we do, damned if we don't.
Since the Rep’s took over both state houses, as well as the Gov., I would think it’s a dem.(Kildee, Peters, etc.)who should be worried about redistricting. I understand the dem minority tried to change the redistricting(or some such)law last week(to protect their arse)....but it was shot down.
I think we can count on getting screwed no matter who comes out on top.
In this case we’ll lose the use of Egyptian airspace and likelyhood of the Suez canal being treated as a bargaining chip.
Israel is really going to get burned.
I agree. Unfortunately, Mubarak is the best possible thing for us and even if he survives he’ll want to retaliate for Obama hanging him out there by himself.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

I think it is the reverse - Islam drives their adherents to poverty just as communism does. For the Muslim countries that don’t have Shariah yet, they certainly don’t have much freedom as we know it either. No private property for the masses, no God-given liberty, just the State. Watch the young people from Egypt who are going to American universities talk about this on tv. They are all for knocking Mubarak out of power, but then what? Free elections? After all the examples of what happens after that (just look at Iran and Gaza), why would they think it will get better for their people?
