64???????? Wow that’s a LOT!!!
( I learned VERY early on......OWN THE P.A.!!!)
Honey, road life is HARD. It takes a special kind of person to endure it. They traveled 75,000 miles a year. Drive 6 hours, set up P.A. and do sound check, eat, clean up, dress, do four hours of show with energy & humor, break down, load, drive 6 hours and hope to sleep a few hours before the next gig, for a period of 8 years. It was grueling. We saw all of the lower 48 states and had lots of adventures, fronted for a lot of Nashville people; George Jones, Kitty Wells, the Kendalls, Stonewall Jackson, Big Al Downing, Jim Ed Brown, Jerry Clower, more I can’t recall. Did shows at West Point Academy, Navel Academy, Air Force Academy, and just about every military base in America. Watched the space shuttle land at Edwards AFB, played at the Officers Club at Andrews...gee no way I can recall all the places. I should write a book. I think we still have the schedule book someplace. That would trigger the memories.
