Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) broke unexpected ground this week, presenting a budget plan that included freezing Veterans Affairs health care spending and cutting veterans' disability benefits considerably.
To put it mildly, the Bachmann proposal has not gone over well among groups representing the needs and interests of veterans.

You will have to learn that if you let evil leftist scum decide what you will of won't discuss then you are but a willing (if unwitting) tool for the left.
Only if conservatives are weak and stupid enough to stand by idle while the leftists demagogue Rep. Bachmann over this.
So what are your plans in this regard?
Every single gov program has waste and fraud in it.
They all need to be streamlined by taking out the waste and fraud.
Education needs to be returned to the states, do away with the dept of education. It's unconstitutional anyway
Do away with the EPA completely. It does nothing to protect the environment, in fact has many policies that are detrimental to the health of the planet.
Drilling for oil on and off shore (close to shore where most of the oil and nat gas is) with 90% less restrictions and bureaucratic red tape.
There is more oil leaking out naturally than has ever spilled, and drilling relieves the pressure and is actually good for the environment.
Stop nickle and dimeing to death taxpayers with the NEA etc, public radio and tv subsidiaries and a million other little pork projects.
Just drilling and pumping our own oil with minimum restrictions would go a long way to fixing the monetary problems in the USA.
They are cutting the poorest people, those honestly on disability, medicare, medical etc.
Week out the SSI reciepients that are just on it for free money and are able to work but are just lazy, and also the dem voter base.
Whittle down the 2 million or so each congresscritters is "entitled" to so he/she can do business.
Pelosi wasted millions on her AF jet, alcohol and other goodies.
TPM this government now!
weed out, not week out thypo above
No those comments were not excellent. There were idiotic and suicidal.
If you let the leftists decide what you will or will not discuss then you are a tool of evil.
What regard?
I hope not. Fraud and waste are fraud and waste whatever the purpose is of a government program.
Bingo. So let us not sit idly by or worse, assist them!
Exactly.
I hear you. Hang in there.
I'll admit to being a "piece of work."
Well, unlike Social Security and Medicare, veterans benefits are at least constitutional.
Well, unlike Social Security and Medicare, veterans benefits are at least constitutional.
She just destroyed her presidential potential.!.!.!
Too bad she is near the top of my list.
She also seriously damaged the Tea Party movement.
Totally removed BACHMANN from my list.
I think you are foolisly allowing yourself to be used by leftist demagogues.
Have you read this whole thread?
Patronage politics got us into our fiscal mess. It won't get us out.
Maybe what she was thinking is that we need to eliminate waste and fraud from every department of the government.
And if you expect conservatism to "fly well" now or ever then you are a fool.
Thanks for posting the link.
In the post to which I replied you said “spending” not “federal spending”.
My preference would be to completely eliminate the U.S. Department of Education and let the States and Counties run this.
Fine.
It is way too early to claim Bachmann is toast. Calm down.
She is only proposing freezing the VA's Budget at current levels and not allowing 100 percent Service Connected veterans from double dipping by collecting BOTH VA disability compensation and SSDI compensation, which would affect approximately 150,000 veterans if enacted.
Check out the Army Times article below, it spells out what specifically Michele Bachmann is proposing (remember, these are only proposals). Thanks to Freeper TwelveOfTwenty in reply #42 of this thread for originally posting this link.
