The new guidelines come as President Obama and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates vowed this week to lift the ban this year, a promise in line with the expectations of gay rights groups who are seeking a swift end to the policy.

So who is in charge here? The POTUS or some gay rights groups? Sadly, I think we know the answer.

How will it be enforced? Sodomy is still illegal under the UMCJ. Whatever people do off duty, if someone reports it, they can still be prosecuted for it. Its a feel good sop to gay activists but it doesn’t change the nature what is still an illegal act.
