Yeah, I strongly suspect the Egyptian Army is trying to prevent anyone from attacking those embassies. Very smart move by whomever is giving the orders.
The army is the real power in the country. The back Mubarak but nOT his son. The people actually respect the military as they are not as corrupt or brutal as the security forces and thugs Mubarak surrounds himself with.
If the army wants Hosni out of Egypt, he will be gone soon. His son Gamal already fled to London earlier this week. I am sure Hosni and his family have enough cash that they have stolen from the 1.5 billion$ we give each year to Egypt.
The Arab leaders are as corrupt as they come, and Hosni has just had more time to line his pockets with US Aid cash than most.
