Probably should have already gotten the people out. The Marine guard there has got to be fit to be tied figuring out a plan.

If the MEU goes in it will be a major operation as far from the coast as Cairo is. A long trek into hostile territory. I think I saw that there are over 600 personnel and dependents affiliated with the embassy there. That is a lot of chopper flights or something.

The embassy already has plans for this. I used to be a MSG in Cairo. They have a MASSIVE amount of ammunition, and the embassy is built like a tank. Unlike Tehran, they can hold for a long time.

As for a MEU, it’s not at that point yet: but they will be doing the initial planning. Getting inland is not a problem: the 22nd MEU got into Afghanistan after the forward refueling points were established.

The only issue is a security cordon to get folks to an evac point. Tahir Square is only a block away.
