Ideology is a very strong drug, Miz.... folks tend to forget that actions have consequences, and that it is dangerous to ignore the Law of Unintended Consequences.
I agree with you, that this is probably the start of something very unpleasant. If we've had any good luck here at all, though, it's that the W. administration was far-sighted enough to begin dealing with Islamism back in 2001; and to recognize the strategic advantages of establishing a significant armed presence in the Middle East.
Another good piece of luck, is that a lot of the people in the "Islamic" countries in the Mediterranean region are actually quite westernized -- they won't fit comfortably within the Islamic regimes.
If we take Bosnia as an example... don’t count on it. You can thank the Saudis for that.
Pray for Americans in Egypt right now. Remember what happened to Americans in Iran.
I think you’re right about the foresight of the W administration. I bet our forces in Iraq are on high alert.
I also think, as I’ve said before, that I don’t necessarily think the bulk of these rioters are necessarily part of the Muslim Brotherhood, though I’ve no doubt the MB is running the show.
But hey, it doesn’t matter cause no matter who we may be “rooting” for, what’s gonna happen will happen. I’ve no confidence whatsoever in this administration to handle it right, dag, Biden’s already out and calling Muburak NOT a dictator.
Not saying he should be calling Muburak names but maybe just silence would be more prudent at this point in time.
