The president was lofty.
"We will move forward together, or not at all - for the challenges we face are bigger than party, and bigger than politics," he said in his State of the Union address.
The official Republican response, too, aimed high.
"Americans are skeptical of both political parties, and that skepticism is justified - especially when it comes to spending," said Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. "So hold all of us accountable."
And then there was Michele Bachmann.
As the leader of the Tea Party Caucus in the House, the Minnesota Republican gave her own, unauthorized response to the State of the Union, live from the National Press Club, filmed by Fox News, broadcast live on CNN and telecast by the Tea Party Express. It had all the altitude of a punch to the gut.

“Yup. And there aint no controlling the mighty mouse from Minnesota.”
I like that. Spent most of my life in Minnesooooota.
What’s a good one for Franken?
Frankenmeese? No....”What the Franken!”....no, Minnesota Meatball!...no
I could slip into some more colorful descriptions, but I respect this forum too much.
Okay, I’ll just quietly think it on this end.
I wouldn’t worry about it, Michelle isn’t going to run for president. She’ll be supporting Sarah, the tea party’s candidate.

Never trust a man named Dana.
Who knew that Congresswoman Bachmann needed Milbank’s authorization to speak.
The fools continue with the personal attacks ignoring the facts.
They do so at their own peril as they become irrelevant.
IF or WHEN the Democrats win back the majorities, you may be sure these kumbaya SOTU addresses will mysteriously and suddenly fall by the wayside. The RINOs always seem to be gullible as dirt and like Little Lord Fauntleroys.
I admire your optimism.
While the WAPO was dithering. The rest of the country boarded the Tea Party Express and left it behind.
How dare she give an unauthorized speech. How dare she give a speech that was not aimed at simpletons and overflowing with phony collegiality, empty symbolism, and meaningless pap. How dare she address real problems and call for real solutions.
No wonder Millbank has his panties in a wad! No wonder Democrats are indignantly wetting their beds. Heads must roll...
Ah, so that's what the Post calls it now. In my day we would just say :
The president was high as a kite.
Hey Dana, how much longer until your paper is sold for $1?
One of the very few in Congress with the courage of her convictions, we need any more to turn the country around.
What has happened to the men in the Republican party? Why can only women have enough balls to tell eveyone this Quota Puppet president is a liar and a fraud?
Damn right she is right!
Hey Milbank, have you had one of these today? [ raising left hand with middle finger extended]
Mr. Milbank you can shove it out your little whiny elitist airhead!.~
>>>Dana Milbank is extremely threatened by any strong woman, i.e. Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, etc.
They have the testicular fortitude he lacks.
satan’s wh0re speaks with forked tongue as she defends demon #1.

Bachmann was the best speech of the night. Wish Ryan would have given her more competition.
That is their history.
